The second trailer for Andrés Muschietti’s upcoming It adaptation debuted last night during the MTV Movie Awards.

It is, if possible, even creepier than the first. The clip opens with the young cast doing classic ‘80s preteen stuff like jumping into lakes and walking around in the woods, while some voiceover explains “When you’re alone as a kid, the monsters see you as weaker. You don’t even know they’re getting closer until it’s too late.”

The group of kids — which includes Midnight Special’s Jaeden Lieberher and Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard — then spend some time playing in open sewage and teasing each other about STDs before picking up the sneaker of a girl who has gone missing from their small town in Maine. Seconds later, they notice a weird balloon pyramid and behind it, Pennywise the clown (Bill Skarsgård). He looks really scary, and this movie seems like kind of a lot to handle. In a recent interview, producer Dan Lin said Skarsgård was perfect for the part of Pennywise because he’s “tall and lanky,” he was weird enough to differentiate himself from famous clowns past (e.g., Heath Ledger’s Joker), and because he really freaked everyone out in his audition. Okay, I believe it.

The second adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel, It was written by True Detective’s Cary Fukanaga, Annabelle’s Gary Dauberman, and relative newcomer Chase Palmer. The film hits theaters September 8th.
