LG looks set to introduce its V30 flagship phone in August

LG looks like it will introduce its latest flagship Android phone, the V30, on August 31st. In an invitation sent to media, LG says to “save the date” for its unveiling event which will occur a day before the IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin.

While the invite doesn’t specify what the unveiling will be for, it’s more than likely the V30 given that V-series phones have always launched at this time of the year, and plenty of leaks have pointed that way. There’s also a massive glowing V on the invite which probably hints to that device. LG also told us to expect a new V-series phone in 2017.

For the V30, LG is likely to move away from an LED display to an OLED screen. LG’s first V phone, the V10, was released in 2015. LG’s V series is marketed as a dual-display prosumer line that gives users fine control over camera settings, video quality, audio, and other aspects of media creation. Notable leaker Evan Blass has said that an early concept for the V30 featured a slide out secondary display. We’ll know for sure if it made it into the final design later this summer.
